Rodolfo Parga-- juried into Spanish Market in 2009 and received the Bienvenedos Award for the best upcoming Spanish Colonial Market Artist the same year for his hollow frame entry of Our Lady of Sorrows bulto. He began carving 8 years ago under the tutelage of Alcario Otero, one of the premier santeros in New Mexico. Since retirement, he is now dedicated to his craft. "I am true to the past practices that have been used for hundreds of years. I use rabbit hide glue for the making of gesso and trementina (pine sap) for varnish. I also use natural pigments for painting."
Rodolfo won First Place Award in 2006 for his St. Michael bulto and Honorable Mention in 2008 for his St. Anthony bulto at the New Mexico State Fair. Rodolfo lives in Albuquerque, NM.
