Antique Art -- We offer two main types of antique art; bultos and Mexican tin retablos. Both are very high quality collectibles which are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Many are becoming quite valuable.

Antique Bultos: Bultos are representations of saints and other religious figures that adorn niches in churches and private chapels. The bultos we offer are from New Mexico, Mexico and South and Central America.

Mexican Tin Retablos: The word "retablo" has a Latin origin and refers to a rear table or area behind the altar. Mexican tin retablos were produced in areas outside of Mexico City and Puebla by untrained artists working as apprentices under the guidance of a master artist. These pieces were usually commissioned by individuals or purchased at stands set up around churches. They were painted for the common people and placed in their homes. The practice was quite common in the mid to late 1800’s following the availability of tin (canvas and copper were used previously). We offer custom, traditional tin frames for these pieces produced by Nicolas Madrid, award-winning Spanish Market tinsmith, for a small additional price.
